Rama Prosad Chattopadhyay started his dance career under the guidanceSmt. Sushmita Mishra, wife of Pt. Ramgopal Mishra of Jaipur Gharana. He later studied under the guidance of Pd. Vijai Shankar and Padma Vibhushan Pt. Birju Mahara & Shrimati Saraswati Sen. He was awarded a National Scholarship in the year 1988-89 under the guidance of Pt. Birju Maharaj, New Delhi from H.R.D. Corporation Govt. of lndia. Presently he is dancing in Maharajji's group choreographies. Rama Prosad Chattopadhya qualified in Kathak dance and is holding a MA in dance, Nritya Bhaskar from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh (he stood first and was awarded a Gold Medal) and Nritya Prabhakar from Prayag SangeeSt amiti A llahabad. He stood first in All India Dance Competition organized by Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabadand awarded a Gold Medal, and in 1988 Singer Moni by Sur Singer Samsad Bombay. He is general artist of Kolkata Doordarshan Kendra.In 1998, he founded his own Kathak Institition, the Sudha Art Center in Kolkata.
